But that’s all changed thanks to the launch of Coles’ Special Burger Sauce. Sold in a 360g bottle for $2.75, it’s scored only two stars on the health star rating, although it boasts no artificial colours and flavours.

The condiment has created a stir on social media, with many Big Mac fans claiming that it tastes exactly like McDonald’s special sauce.

A Coles spokeswoman told BuzzFeed 'our Product Development Team worked on the sauce for 18 months' and is always 'closely monitoring emerging food trends'.
